Tonina Saputo, bass player and guitarist
Tonina Saputo fell in love with the upright bass when she was just six years old. She went on to study Spanish in school and would soon start writing songs in Spanish using her bass. Today, Tonina is well-known for her music in both her hometown of St. Louis—where she performs with her band—all the way to Spain. Her sound combines a classical training with folk, R&B, Spanish, and Latin flavors mixed in. It’s a unique style – and critics have taken notice. Even, President Obama counts himself a fan.
