Classics of the Phonograph: Christoph von Dohnanyi
Christoph von Dohnanyi
By John Frayne
The conductor Christoph von Dohnanyi passed away this past September, two days before his 96th birthday. For American audiences, he was most famous for his conducting the Cleveland Orchestra from 1984 to 2002. With that ensemble he recorded over 100 works for the London/Decca and Telarc labels. We will hear a sampling of his recordings on Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11, on Illinois Classical.
