Famous conductor Victor De Sabata

In the opinion of many, Victor De Sabata was, after Arturo Toscanini, the greatest Italian opera conductor of the 20th century. He followed Toscanini in 1930 at La Scala, Milan and remained a dominant force there until the 1950s. His performance on disc of Puccini's opera "Tosca," with Maria Callas, has been nominated as the greatest of all opera recordings. De Sabata's own tone poems were at one time frequently performed. On Saturday at 11, we will hear some of his recordings.
