The Russian-born violinist Mischa Elman was known for the sweetness and richness of his tone, and his Victor Red Seal recordings, beginning in 1910, made Elman an American household name. The French violinist Jacques Thibaud was famous for the Gallic elegance of his playing, and his trio recordings with Pablo Casals and Alfred Cortot have become classics.

On this week's Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear samples of their artistry.
