August is a month for vacations, and also for pop concerts. Ferde Grofé’s Grand Canyon Suite is a pop concert specialty about a favorite holiday destination. Written in 1931, and premiered and recorded by the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, this work has been frequently recorded since. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will sample those recordings.
