Classics of the Phonograph

Great Conductors of Wagner

Arturo Toscanini

Our program of Classics of the Phonograph this week is about great conductors of the music of Richard Wagner. From the late 1920s to the 1950s, three famous maestros who made memorable recordings of Wagner's music were Arturo Toscanini, Wilhelm Furtwaengler, and Bruno Walter. Wagner's music is well known not only in the opera house, but also at symphony concerts.

We will hear some of the symphonic excerpts beloved by concert goers on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. on WILL-FM.
