Italians Not Writing Operas, but Symphonies!

In the 19 century as a golden age of opera came to an end in Italy, younger Italian composers decided to turn back to instrumental music. Led by Martucci, composers such as Casella, Malipiero, and the most successful, Respighi, frequently tired to find inspiration in earlier Italian music. On Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear some of this Italian orchestral music.
