The famous American cellist Lynn Harrell died recently. After playing first cellist in the Cleveland Orchestra, he became a free-lance soloist in 1971. He played famous concertos for cello with the major orchestras of the world, as well as earning Grammy awards for recording chamber music with Vladimir Ashkenazy. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM., we will hear some of the musical highlights of Harrell's career.
