The "Mannheim School" was a group of musicians in the mid-18th century which significantly changed orchestra playing, changing the musical style from Baroque to Classical. Among the Mannheim orchestra's admirers was the young Wolfgang Mozart.

On this week's Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear music some the pioneers of the School, Johann Stamitz and Franz Xaver Richter.
