The Latvian conductor Mariss Jansons died this past December. Jansons brought the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra to international attention with recordings of Tchaikovsky symphonies. He also spent parts of his distinguished career with orchestras in Amsterdam, Munich, and Pittsburgh. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM., highlights from his recordings of the music of Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich will be heard.
