The Utah Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Thierry Fischer, will perform in the Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, April 27. In connection with this event, an archival program of Classics of the Phonograph will be broadcast Saturday morning at 11 am on WILL-FM 90.9 and 101.1. John Frayne will be sharing samples of this orchestra's work under its long time conductor, Maurice Abravanel. This program will preempt the topic listed in Patterns Magazine.

For a chance to win a pair of tickets to their performance at Krannert, like WILL's post on Facebook (@WILLRadioTVOnline) or retweet any of WILL's tweets (@WILLPublicMedia) about the performance.

Original program listing from June 7, 2014:

The Utah Symphony Orchestra has been an anomaly among American orchestras. A regional orchestra, far from traditional centers of classical music, it long enjoyed the dynamic direction of a world famous conductor, Maurice Abravanel. And their fame was generated by the loyal support of Vanguard records, which supported this organization in daring ventures, such as one of the first recordings of the complete Mahler Symphonies. We'll sample some of their recordings.
