The Great American Symphony

In the 1930s and 40s, there was a search for the "Great American Symphony." Among the candidates for this honor were the third symphonies of three composer, Roy Harris, Howard Hanson, and Aaron Copland.
On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear excerpts of recordings of these works, conducted by, respectively, Serge Koussevitzky, the composer Howard Hanson, and Antal Dorati.
