Westminster Records was part of the explosion of labels that followed the introduction of the Long-Playing Record in 1947. Using single microphone technology, Westminster heavily depended on Vienna, Austria for its catalog entries. Collectors of the 1950s will remember with affection the Vienna Konzerthaus Quartet, pianist Paul Badura-Skoda, cellist Antonio Janigro, and Herman Scherchen, the Westminster house conductor.

On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear some of these old favorites.
