The Evening Concert

Continuing series in this 2nd-quarter-2018 are those from the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Mozart's K. 405 String Quintet in C Minor for 2 violins, 2 violas (Mozart was, they say, an excellent viola player), and cello. Also returning to the "Evening Concert": "The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival'; as well, you'll hear two works by Mendelssohn

Music Director Gustavo Dudamel conducts. Also on the program, Janacek’s “Sinfonietta” and Stravinsky’s “Symphonies of Wind Instruments”

If you know the work, the one-player-per-part-arrangement of Mahler's "1st" gives the listener a clarity not heard in the symphonic version.

Also on the program Schumann’s “2nd Symphony” and Penderecki’s “The Awakening of Jacob”. 

It's THE Philharmonic...with a program that also includes the overture to "The creatures of Pormetheus" by Beethoven.

That would be the "Prague" Symphony, the "Violin Concerto", the "1st Symphony" and the "Symphonies of Wind Instruments" plus so much more.

Additionally, there's Brahms Opus 34, F Minor Piano Quintet on the program.

Music Director Dudamel conducts. There's also music by Mahler featuring Elina Garanca.

Songs by Schubert, plus his "5th Symphony", and works by Beethoven, and Saint-Saens.
