The fine arts producers at the Philharmonic have assembled a program from the archives centered on music of British composers. They call it "Rule, Britannia!"

Continuing series in this 2nd-quarter-2018 are those from the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Mozart's K. 405 String Quintet in C Minor for 2 violins, 2 violas (Mozart was, they say, an excellent viola player), and cello. Also returning to the "Evening Concert": "The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival'; as well, you'll hear two works by Mendelssohn

Music Director Gustavo Dudamel conducts. Also on the program, Janacek’s “Sinfonietta” and Stravinsky’s “Symphonies of Wind Instruments”

If you know the work, the one-player-per-part-arrangement of Mahler's "1st" gives the listener a clarity not heard in the symphonic version.
