Boulez passed away earlier this year. As Music Director of the Philharmonic for a period in the 1970s he recorded with the orchestra many of his works and other more famous works of the 20th century.
Brahms wrote his First Piano Concerto in 1858 which is exactly 100 years before tonight's soloist Bronfman was born!
