The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is pre-empted for 2 Holiday Specials
Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is pre-empted so that we can bring you two holiday specials: the “Wind & Rhythm Christmas Special” and “Jingle Them”, also from the producers of “Wind & Rhythm”.

Back in 1946, in the middle of a heat wave in Washington DC, the chief of the Scandinavian Desk of Military Intelligence dreamed up a piece of music that took him a couple of years to complete. Did you know that Leroy Anderson worked at the Pentagon at the end of World War 2? The piece he wrote, Sleigh Bells was written between his service to our country in World War 2 and his recall to active Duty for the Korean War. It was just a short time between the two conflicts, and what do you think he was thinking about?

8:00 pm: Wind & Rhythm: Jingle Them
Emmy Award winner Julie Giroux worked in Hollywood for years and her credits are formidable. When she thought of giving Christmas gifts to the high rollers in the film and television industry, she came up with a unique approach... she wrote Christmas carol arrangements, just for them. It became a Hollywood tradition and now it is becoming a wind band holiday tradition, too! Of course, lots of people have written and arranged Christmas carols... but, not like this.
