Jaap Van Zweden Conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Prokofiev’s 5th Symphony

Tonight's "Evening Concert" features works written within ten years of each other, the period from 1935 to 1945. [Shostakovich (1935); Britten (1939-40) and Prokofiev (1944 - 45)]. Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 guest conductor Jaap van Zweden leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in works from last century, the centerpiece being Prokofiev’s 5th Symphony. Also on the program: Britten’s Sinfonia da Requiem and Shostakovich’s “Five Fragments for Orchestra”.
