Leonard Bernstein’s life and work took him to every far-flung corner of the globe. But Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, remained his spiritual home, and the Tanglewood Music Center a constant source of renewal.

The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia played a critical role in launching the unparalleled career of Leonard Bernstein. In the wake of those formative two years, Bernstein wrote his first published work, the Sonata for Clarinet and Piano.
