7:00 pm – 10:00 pm: The Bernstein Experience

Composer, conductor, pianist, teacher, thinker, and adventurous spirit, Leonard Bernstein transformed the way people hear and appreciate music.

BERNSTEIN: Piano Trio - performed by the Neave Trio

BERNSTEIN: Anniversaries - performed by pianist Spencer Myer and narration by Jamie Bernstein

Leonard Bernstein’s life and work took him to every far-flung corner of the globe. But Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, remained his spiritual home, and the Tanglewood Music Center a constant source of renewal.

9:00: Episode 3: The Bernstein Experience at the Curtis Institute

The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia played a critical role in launching the unparalleled career of Leonard Bernstein. He studied with, among others, legendary conductor Fritz Reiner and equally legendary composer Randall Thompson. In the wake of those formative two years, Bernstein wrote his first published work, the Sonata for Clarinet and Piano.
