Russian Chamber Music & music from the 16th C. “Venetian School” on the “Evening Concert”

 

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Russian chamber music by Scriabin and Taneyev on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear music by Giovanni Gabrieli, Claudio Merulo, and others from 16th century Venice on “Early Music Now”.

The 16th century Venetian School influenced composers all over Europe - from the polychoral masterpieces of Gabrieli to the innovative keyboard music of Merulo. We'll also hear selections from the Odhecaton: the earliest music collection printed using movable type, published by Petrucci in Venice in 1501.
