A String Quartet by Beethoven and a Mass by Josquin on the “Evening Concert”

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear the Danish String Quartet play Beethoven’s Opus 135 String Quartet and Nielsen’s “4th String Quartet on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear a Mass by Josquin on “Early Music Now”.

The Estes of Ferrara were renowned patrons of music and welcomed some of the greatest singers and composers of the day to their court. We'll hear selections from Josquin's “Missa Hercules Dux Ferrarie”, which he wrote especially for Duke Ercole I d'Este, along with music by other composers associated with this illustrious cultural center like Dufay, Brumel, and Johannes Martini. Our performers include the Hilliard Ensemble and La Reverdie.
