Arcadelt the Visionary

Jacques Arcadelt enjoyed a glittering career serving the Medicis, the pope, and French royalty. His music was depicted in Caravaggio's famous painting The Lute Player, yet his music isn't as well known today as it deserves to be. We'll hear motets, madrigals, and chansons from a three-disc set from Outhere Music, performed by the Chamber Choir of Namur, Capella Mediterranea, and Doulce Memoire.

Jacques Arcadelt: Estote fortes in bello. Josquin Capella

Arcadelt: Il Bianco e dolce cigno. Vostra fui e saro. Felici amanti. Quando col dolce suono. Deh! Dimm’amor. Cappella Mediterranea

Giovanni Maria Trabaci: Ancidetemi pur Angelique Mauillon, harp

Jacques Arcadelt: Les yeux qui me sceurent prendre. Tout au rebours. Quand je me trouve aupres. Amour ce plaint. Margot labourez les vignes. Doulce Memoire

Franz Liszt: Ave Maria d’Arcadelt: Joris Verdin, organ

Jacques Arcadelt: Agnus Dei (Missa Ave Regina Coelorum). Gloriosae virginis Mariae. Namur Chamber Choir
