Evening Concert

Mussorgsky, Borodin, and Shostakovich on tonight’s “Evening Concert”

Conductor Leonard Bernstein

Leonard Bernstein

"The Five" was a group of Russian composers in the 19th century. Two of these (Mussorgsky, Borodin, Shostakovich) were in the group. One wasn't. (Shostakovich: 20th century composer).  Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  From the archives it’s Leonard Bernstein conducting Mussorgsky’s “Khovanschina Prelude”,  Borodin’s “In the Steppes of Central Asia” and Shostakovich’s 7th Symphony. The program differs from the listings in Patterns Magazine.
