An updated version of a public radio tradition hosted by NPR's Susan Stamberg. Master comedian Jonathan Winters presents a distinctive reading of Dickens' holiday classic, with a special performing edition prepared by Dickens for his own presentations. Also featuring Mimi Kennedy.

Holiday Special: All is Bright: Contemplative Music for Christmas

…an hour of gorgeous, contemplative choral music. Hosted by Lynne Warfel, this new special features Cantus, Chanticleer, Cambridge Singers, Bryn Terfel, Emma Kirkby, Jessye Norman, and a variety of choirs.

 

Friday December 21: Prairie Performances pre-empted for Holiday Special

The Christmas Revels: In Celebration of the Winter Solstice

An all-new compilation of musical excerpts, short poetry and prose readings from the live Christmas/Winter Solstice Revels stage production.  Performances consist of European and American traditions for Christmas, the Feast of St. Nicholas, St. Lucia’s Day, New Year’s and Twelfth Night. Catherine Lu hosts.

 

Sunday December 23: Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center pre-empted for Holiday Special

Holiday Special: Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra

The world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir presents rich arrangements of familiar carols, and lesser-known melodies that are fast becoming the new classics. Julie Amacher hosts this annual favorite.
