Team Member Mara Dolan Bio

Hi, my name is Mara and I am currently a sophomore intern at University High. I have worked on the Disability Barriers, Counterculture, and Military Personnel projects, and look forward to several more documentaries in the near future. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, running cross country, riding horses, reading and writing. My true passion, however, is traveling and experiencing cultures from all around the world. I have been to over ten countries and love meeting people and hearing about their lives.
I have been involved as a member on the oral history team for 3 years now, and have thoroughly enjoyed each project for a variety of reasons. The topics we have covered have been diverse, challenging, and fascinating. It always amazes me the level of exposure and insight into another person’s life you can get from simply sitting down with them for half an hour to hear a few of their many experiences. Before joining the intern team, I never would have guessed that sitting down and listening to someone talk for hours could be so invigorating or exciting! Of the many things that this work has taught me, it has made me realize that everyone in our community has a story to tell.
