Bio, Erica McKinney

Erica McKinney

Hello, my name is Erica McKinney. I am excited that I am working with the students at both Edison and Jefferson Middle Schools. I enjoy sharing with them my journalistic skills of learning to ask good questions and tell a story. I am a senior at the University of Illinois majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in African-American Studies. After I graduate, I plan to move to Washington D.C to work with the government for a few years before returning to school to get both my Masters and PhD. After completing my education I intend to create and produce documentaries that will document the African-American experience. By the end of this program I hope that I am able to have an impact on the students. I want to teach them that learning how to critically think and investigate their interests are tools they can use for the rest of their lives. I also anticipate and look forward to learning as much from them as they learn from me.
