Mid-American Gardener

Garden-inspired winter hobbies to keep you busy and mid-winter houseplant care tips.

Spring is here in less than 60 days, so it’s time to start thinking about what you plan to grow outdoors this year.  But until then, let’s talk houseplants and indoor plant-inspired projects that will give you a little inspiration as we head into a mid-winter deep freeze.

This episode brings the garden indoors!  Jennifer Nelson shares the art of quilling, a traditional paper craft rooted in garden and plant themes. We take a closer look at common houseplant insect issues, how to identify them, and what actually works to control pests (looking at you, fungus gnats!)

Later, Shane shows how to decorate your space using minimalist-inspired houseplant cuttings, along with smart ideas for keeping greenery thriving indoors during the winter months, plus terrariums!

If you have questions (send photos if you have them!), we’ve got you covered. Send questions to yourgarden@gmail.com, or check out our Facebook page and feel free to leave your questions there! We will try to get it answered on an upcoming show or web segment!
