Late-Summer Garden Bounty: Dahlias, Vegetables and Beautiful Blooms
Late summer blooms and bounty in the garden!
Shane and Chuck join Tinisha on the set with an abundance of garden produce and beautiful blooms. Shane shares dahlias from his yard and talks about growing an incredible 40 different varieties this year, including how carefully following planting instructions made a noticeable difference in the plants' color, size and overall health.

Chuck brings along a zucchini, tomato and kohlrabi and explains which vegetables can still be planted this late in the summer to enjoy into fall.

We also dig into the world of elderberry, explore the lore surrounding the Illinois native boneset and admire the simple beauty of bee balm.

And earlier, Kelly Allsup joined us in the studio for a quick segment to talk about fall garden maintenance and the many things we can still be doing in the garden as the summer growing season winds down.
Kelly also brings in a crysanthumum one of the first sure signs of fall. We talk about choosing and caring for mums, including a few simple tips for keeping them looking beautiful well into fall and even through Thanksgiving.
