Too Young To Vote, But Old Enough To Be Election Judges

Tuesday is election day … and Champaign County wants to see more high schoolers at polling places – even if they're not old enough to vote yet.

In Illinois – and most other states -- High school students who are at least 16 and in good academic standing are in demand as election judges.

Parkland College Plans Cuts To Non-Tenured Faculty

Administrators at Parkland College in Champaign are recommending the layoffs of a number of non-tenured faculty at the end of the school year. The news comes via a mass e-mail from Parkland President Tom Ramage, who says he can't be sure the state will provide any funding for community colleges in the coming year. The cuts are expected to be part of a November 16 Board of Trustees meeting.

Cubs Hold Parade, Rally In Front Of 5 Million Fans

The Chicago river was blue from dye and baseball fans in Chicago celebrated the Cubs win in the World Series with a parade. As is the case with every city celebration of a team's win, the streets were lined with fans and at the end players and team management address a large crowd. City officials estimate some 5 million people took part in the parade.
