Another Illinois Prosecutor OKs Concealed Carry

A second southern Illinois prosecutor is letting his county's residents carry concealed weapons even as Gov. Pat Quinn weighs whether to allow it statewide.

Randolph County State's Attorney Jeremy Walker announced he'll allow the county's citizens to carry guns in public.

A federal appellate court last year threw out the state's last-in-the-nation prohibition, giving Illinois lawmakers until June 9 to come up with a measure allowing the practice.

Though that cutoff was extended by a month, Walker says the original deadline passed, leaving him convinced "it is time to act.'' This comes even as Quinn decides whether to sign or veto a concealed-carry bill the legislature sent to him.

Madison County's prosecutor announced last week that he'd stop prosecuting concealed carry cases.
