Central Illinois continues to deal with snow and falling temperatures this weekend. A wind chill advisory is in effect for the entire WILL severe weather coverage area until Tuesday at noon.

Tracy Wingler with the Champaign County Highway Department says most county roads are snow and ice covered Saturday morning, with some wheel tracks. He says blowing snow is becoming a factor in rural areas as winds pick up today.

"We did not treat our roads (with salt) last night because of the winds today," Wingler said. "The men (clearing the roads) are reporting blowing snow now."

The Illinois Department of Transportation says that Interstate 74 in Vermilion County is partially snow and ice covered as of Saturday morning. A stretch of Interstate 57 in Ford County is also partially snow and ice covered.

Meanwhile, the City of Urbana has issued a snow and ice removal requirement for sidewalks in the Downtown, University, and South Philo Road districts. Property owners are required to clear sidewalks in these areas by 8:00 Sunday morning.

Sidewalks not cleared by that time could be cleared by the city at property owners’ expense.
