There’s a lot of discussion right now about the role of journalism in our society.  Those discussions are also happening in classrooms on the University of Illinois Urbana campus.

Ted Kemp received a master’s degree in journalism from the U of I in the 1990’s. He’s now a senior digital editor for CNBC in New York.  He was on campus Thursday and Friday to talk with current journalism students. He spoke with Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline about his visit, and the questions he received from students.

Kemp is also the co-author of a new book called “The Ragged Edge,” detailing one marine’s account of helping to build the Iraqi Army Fifth Battalion in 2004 and 2005. You can listen to his thoughts on the book below.
