Flooding on Sangamon Not Over Yet

Flooding along the Sangamon River is not letting up.

A flood warning for the Sangamon at Monticello --- once forecast to let up on Wednesday --- has been extended until late Saturday.

The river level at Monticello on Tuesday morning was measured at 13.5 feet, half a foot over flood stage. While river levels have fallen nearly three feet  since Saturday, some minor rises are now expected … due to about an inch of rain which is forecast to fall Tuesday afternoon and evening. The Sangamon at Monticello could reach 13.7 feet by Friday.

In the meantime, the National Weather Service predicts that minor flooding will continue along the river.
