Heat Wave Prompts More Early School Dismissals on Tuesday
Some east-central Illinois schools are once again dismissing class early Tuesday, as a humid heat wave continues.
Champaign Central High School has announced it will dismiss class at 1:05 PM. Regular school bus service will be provided at that time. Afternoon athletic activities will be held as scheduled.
Danville High School will dismiss class at 1:55 PM. All other Danville public schools will follow their normal schedules.
In Decatur, both AM and PM classes at Pershing Early Learning Center are cancelled. All other schools will be dismissing after 3 hours of school, and all district Pre-K afternoon sessions are cancelled.
The Monticello school district has announced it will close one hour early on Tuesday.
The Catlin, Tuscola and Bement school districts are dismissing class at 2 PM on Tuesday.
The Paxton-Buckley-Loda school district will dismiss elementary schools at 2 PM, the high school at 2:05 PM, and the junior high school at 2:10 PM.
