Illinois Lawmakers Adjourn For The Weekend

The Illinois Legislature has adjourned until Monday.  

The Senate wrapped up early Friday afternoon, shortly after the House completed its work for the week.  

Legislators in both chambers are scheduled to return to the Capitol on Monday for the final week of the spring session.  

Among the issues still before them is approving a 2015 budget. They also could decide to make Illinois' temporary income tax increase permanent.  

The tax rate for individuals is set to drop from 5 percent to 3.75 percent in January if lawmakers don't extend it. That drop would cut revenue by about $1.8 billion next year.  

Lawmakers also could decide whether to set aside $100 million for construction of President Barack Obama's library and museum in Illinois.  

The session ends May 31.
