Indiana AG: Spike in Complaints Over Gas Prices

The Indiana Attorney General's office says the recent surge in Midwestern gasoline prices that's made the state the nation's fourth-priciest is drawing an influx of complaints from the public.

The state agency says it's received 80 complaints about high gas prices so far this month, up from just 15 last month.

The agency said Friday that Indiana's average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.12. That's behind Hawaii, Michigan and Illinois, and about 50 cents above the national average.

Attorney General's office spokeswoman Erin Reese says the office has determined that gasoline-production delays at seven of the Midwest's 10 largest refineries have caused the higher prices.

Reese says it will take time for those refineries to ramp up their production and for regional gas prices to drop.

Meanwhile, gas prices at most locations in the Champaign-Urbana area are $4.19 a gallon as of Saturday morning.
