It is now a little easier to drive through the Campustown area in Urbana, with the opening of a portion of Green Street to traffic.

Urbana Public Works says Green Street between Goodwin and Lincoln Avenues was opened to full two-way traffic on Monday.

The street had been closed due to work on the MCORE Project, which aims to make Green Street through Campustown more accessible to more modes of transportation, such as buses and bicycles. The remaining landscaping and other miscellaneous work to be done on the street is expected to take place in the fall.

Meanwhile, MCORE construction continues to keep Green Street closed between 3rd and 4th Streets on the Champaign side of Campustown.
