The 2016 presidential election results defied polling and pundits alike.  As a result, news organizations have been discussing how they can better cover elections going forward.

Sarah McCammon covered the Donald Trump presidential campaign for NPR. McCammon was the keynote speaker for the Illinois News Broadcasters Association conference in Urbana on Saturday. She also spoke with Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline on lessons that reporters can learn from the 2016 elections.

McCammon is now working for NPR’s National Desk, based in Virginia.
