Sept. 11th Memorial Ceremonies Set For Champaign-Urbana

Ceremonies are planned in Champaign-Urbana Wednesday to remember those who died in the 9/11 attacks, which took place twelve years ago in 2001.

Locally, the University of Illinois presents its annual September 11 Memorial Concert, at 7:46 AM at Smith Memorial Hall. The Illinois Early Music Group will perform. The audience is asked to enter and leave in silence.

Later in the morning at 9 AM, the Champaign Fire Department will host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at West Side Park, at the corner of State and Church Streets.

Other emergency response agencies will join with the Fire Department in presenting the ceremony.
