Teamsters Head In Decatur Removed Over Accusation

The Teamsters Union has removed the president of its local in Decatur after accusing him of giving himself a pay raise without proper approvals.

According to The Herald & Review newspaper in Decatur, the union posted a notice on the office of Local 279. It explains that Teamsters national President James P. Hoffa removed President Jerry Connor from office.

The notice says a review board concluded after an investigation that Connor gave himself a $293-a-week raise without required approval from a local board. The notice also accuses Connor of claiming the raise was approved at a meeting that the board concluded never happened.

Connor could not be located for comment.

The Teamsters national office confirmed Connor had been removed but declined further comment.
