A top professor at the University of Illinois is headed to Northwestern University in Evanston.  The News-Gazette reports that engineering professor John Rogers will lead a new $25 million biomedical engineering research center beginning in 2016.

Rogers is known worldwide for his development of flexible electronics that he and other inventors hope will be integrated with the human body as medical applications.

He plans to maintain a research affiliation in Champaign-Urbana even after he moves.

Rogers says his departure is not related to the state's budget crisis or the recent resignation of the University of Illinois' chancellor and provost.
