U of I Student Newspaper Cuts Back To 2 Days A Week
The privately run student newspaper at the University of Illinois plans to scale back its print product and focus on digital delivery. Lil Levant is publisher and general manager of Illini Media Company, the company that owns the Daily Illini.
She told the paper on Monday that starting Jan. 19 it will be printed only on Mondays and Thursdays.
Levant said the move is intended to let Daily Illini staff focus more on the paper's website and distribution through social media. The Daily Illini also plans to stop printing its weekly Buzz Magazine in March.
Student newspapers on many campuses have cut back or ended print production in recent years due to declining print readership and financial difficulties.
