When the issue of dog behavior is discussed, you’ll often hear certain misbehavior attributed to dominance.

But one University of Illinois expert says the science doesn’t back that up.

Dr. Kelly Ballantyne is a board-certified veterinary behaviorist with the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine.  Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline spoke with Ballantyne about some of the misconceptions about dominance in dogs.

One resource Ballantyne recommends for dealing with dog behavior is the book "Decoding Your Dog," by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.

You can find a recent column that Ballntyne wrote for the College of Veterinary Medicine on the topic of dominance in dogs at this link.
