University of Illinois Hires First Female Head of Theater Department

The University of Illinois says it has hired the first female leader for its theater department at its Urbana campus.
The university says Kirsten Pullen will be the new head of the department, pending approval by university trustees.
Pullen is a professor of performance studies at Texas A&M University.
She grew up in Indianola, Iowa, and says in a news release that “the pull of family and pull of the Midwest” helped draw her to what she calls her dream job at the University of Illinois.
