This week we present a concert from the 2011 festival featuring Cuban-born music phenomenon, instrumentalist, composer, and Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval with the UI jazz faculty—Chip McNeill, Tito Carrillo, Jim Pugh, Larry Gray, Chip Stephens, and special guest drummer Joel Spencer—in an evening of high-energy jazz and Latin jazz.
Known for his beautiful sonorous ballad tone and skill in the high register on both trumpet and flugelhorn, Sandoval will perform in the timeless tradition of Dizzy Gillespie and include his own compositions.
