Brass Blowout

On this week's Prairie Performances, Friday at 7 pm on WILL-FM 90.9, join the Champaign-Urbana Symphony and conductor Stephen Alltop for “Brass Blowout.”  The brasses will be featured, beginning with Wagner’s Overture to Rienzi, followed by Robert Schumann’s Concert Piece for 4 Horns spotlighting the Four Horns of the Apocalypse that is to say the orchestra’s four horn players: Bernard Scully, Thomas Jostlein, Marc Zyla, and Steven Burian. Next a trip to Spain with selections from Manuel de Falla’s Three Cornered Hat. The concert ends in a blaze of orchestral color with Ravel’s Bolero.
