Classically Black—The Creole Romantics

On this week's Prairie Performances, Friday at 7 pm on WILL-FM 90.9, it's Classically Black features three black composers who were born in New Orleans and lived through the Civil War, but shortly after would relocate to Paris to find the fame and recognition denied them in America.

The convergence of the romance with the American parlor song is represented by music of these so-called “Creole Romantics,” Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Edmond Dede, and Lucien Lambert.
