Fiery music from Sinfonia da Camera

April 10, 2015

Let Sinfonia da Camera set the mood  ... with some fiery music! Ginastera’s Variaciones Concertantes drives up heart rates and sets feet tapping, and de Falla’s El amor brujo adds to the frenzy with its famous “Ritual Fire Dance” (a musical depiction of fire-god worshippers dancing in flame). The excitement continues with a world premiere cello concerto written by University of Illinois faculty member Carlos Carrillo and performed by Sinfonia’s principal cellist, Amy Flores, pictured. Ravel's Rapsodie espagnol is also on the program.
