Of War
On this week's Prairie Performances, Friday night at 7 pm on WILL-FM 90.9, "Of War"—embedded in this concert between Mozart’s ”day of wrath” and Bach’s “plea for peace”—is a cantata for chorus, soloists, and orchestra.
It was premiered on April 9, 2015 on the University of Illinois campus. Three movements are based on texts by the composer Constance Congdon. The text of the third movement "Vigil Strange" is from the collection Drum-Taps, book 21 of Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman.
