Vonn Vannier Vonn Vannier
By Mel Miller
On this week’s episode of Prairie Performances, we celebrate the music of rising classical artists. First, we will hear music from composer and pianist Vonn Vannier, who just this year released his debut album, Dawn, at only 18 years old. From that album we will hear his “Rhapsody in C Minor” for orchestra and “Shimmer” for piano quintet.
We will also be hearing a variety of recorded performances from student artists, including the Illinois State University (ISU) Concert Choir’s performance of “Heilig” by Felix Mendelssoh, Baldassare Donata’s “All Ye Who Music Love” as sung by the ISU Madrigal Singers, Howard Hansen’s Serenade Op. 35 as performed by the Eastern Symphony Orchestra at Eastern Illinois University, and the fourth movement of Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 5 in D, op. 47 as performed by the ISU Symphony Orchestra.
This episode aired Thursday, September 18 at 7pm CST on WILL 90.9 Classical FM.
Stream here until October 2nd.
