Prairie Performances: Sacred and Profane

On this week’s episode of Prairie Performances, titled “The Sacred and Profane,” we feature performances from the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra’s 2024-2025 season. We open with Antonin Dvorak’s sacred cantata, Te Deum, based on a Latin hymn with sublime instrumental moments and operatic choir. After that, we venture into the realm of the profane with Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, with introductory remarks by conductor of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Stephen Alltop.
